Leading Edge - August 2007

A group of 17 of us went to Leading Edge this year. It was held at the Warwick School, Warwick again this year. The weather was a bit wet but we had fun coping with it. 4 stayed off-site in local B&B's while the rest of us camped in varying degrees of comfort!

Daphne the archer!

As well as seminars, bible studies and times of worship - we had times of relaxation. Here's Daphne having a go at archery with the others looking on...

There was chance to play tennis, squash, badminton and go swimming. Our own Jonathan Saunders won the open badminton competition - which was very good for a 14 year old!

Some of birds of prey

There were some very stimulating and challenging guest speakers at the week including: George Verwer of OM (Operation Mobilisation) fame, Kate Coleman - 2006/7 BU president and Jonathan Edwards - not the triple jumper, but the BU General Secretary.

One of the themes for the week was 'on Eagles Wings' and we were treated to a falconry display. Here are some of the birds...

The other part of the theme for the week was 'going beyond our limits'

bird flying through tunnel
The highlight of the display was seeing a bird fly though a tunnel of hands in search of some food at the end of the tunnel. Can you see the bird flying through?

Why don’t you think about coming to Leading Edge next year? The main speaker will be the popular Christian author, Philip Yancey. Find out more by visiting the Leading Edge Website (www.baptist.org.uk/leadingedge) or speak to someone at church about it.
