The seven sayings from the cross
show Jesus' concern first of all for others

First saying
Forgiveness for those around the cross
who were mocking and abusing Him.

Second saying
Forgiveness for the penitent thief.

Third saying
He remembered Mary
as He asked John to take care of her.

His whole life was lived
being controlled by love
and compassion
for others
and this was no different in His death.
