Easter Meditation - seven sayings from the cross

Today you will be with me in paradise.

Luke 23:43

In the first saying
Jesus asked for pardon "forgive them ..."

In the second saying
Jesus granted pardon.

The two criminals were equally close to Jesus
both were wicked,
both were suffering,
both saw and heard,
both needed forgiveness.
Yet only one asked for forgiveness
and today is with Jesus.

William Barclay said:

"The cross is the proof that there is no length
to which the love of God will refuse to go
in order to win men's hearts.
The cross is the medium of reconciliation
because the cross is the final proof
of the love of God."
